Our guesthouse and surrounding homes are brimming with history of the Struggle. Uxolo means "peace" and we have chosen this name to capture some of the history pertaining to Former President Nelson Mandela's early years. In 1963 Nelson Mandela lived across the road from the guesthouse, he often visited his friends who lived in the nearby houses, and Winnie Mandela's wedding dress was made in a house just down the road from us. Many of these fascinating stories are documented in "The Long Walk to Freedom" and other books. Uxolo Guesthouse is a Highly Recommended (AA rating) guesthouse nestled in the quiet and quaint suburb of Norwood, Johannesburg.
