We are a family run Bed and Breakfast, The Ford. Nestled amongst the Caha Mountains, overlooking the Sheen River and six miles from the well-known heritage town of Kenmare noted for its Award Winning Restaurants, Galleries and Craft shops. The Ford Bed and Breakfast is located on the Beara Way, making it a prime location for keen walkers. Also being ideally situated for touring the unspoiled Beara Peninsula, and the famous Ring of Kerry. Molly Gallivan's Cottage and Traditional Farm is only a five-minute drive away. World famous Garnish Island Gardens in the idyllic village of Glengarriff are only a twenty-minute drive away. The newly opened Bonane Heritage Park is five minutes walk from us. This park contains many ancient sites of archaeological interest, ring forts, stone circles, a famine ruin and standing Stones. It shows that our parish of Bonane was inhabited 6000 years ago. Guided walks can be arranged around the park.
Glenfort House B&B, situated in a quiet area, is just one mile from the centre of Tralee. Tralee is Kerry's county town and as such, has much for the visitor to see and do. Tralee is also the gateway to the Dingle Peninsula, is an easy ride to the Ring of Kerry, Ballyheigue and Banna with their fine beaches and close to several championship golf courses. The town boasts restaurants to suit all pockets, traditional pubs, tea rooms, the National Folk Theatre the Aqua Dome, a multi screen cinema, gift shops and art galleries. All the rooms in Glenfort house offer en suite bathrooms, hospitality tray, TV and hair dryer. There is a guest lounge with TV and in the mornings a delicious breakfast. Watersedge is a purpose built B&B nestled in the Sheen Falls woods and is just 10 min walk along the waterfront to Kenmare Town. Our bedrooms are finished to a very high standard. All our rooms are ensuite with power showers, hair dryers, flat screen television and DVD. The beds are fully orthopaedic and floors contain hollow core concrete sound proofing. There is hot tea / coffee and biscuits available all day in our guest dining room which overlooks the harbour. We have an extensive library with books, local maps and a large selection of DVDs. We also have cards, chess and other board games to enjoy. Our garden deck is a great place to relax with a good book and a coffee. Please make our home your home.
